Solid Core Education
We offer a unique approach to teaching and learning, while not sacrificing the solid foundation of a core academic and creative education.
After being a part-time program during its first 25 years, The Attic is expanding its program and calendar while still maintaining its commitment to child-centered, authentic learning. If you were familiar with The Attic in the past, you know that because of its part-time program, learners needed to be enrolled as homeschool students. Beginning in 2025-2026, full-time Attic learners will be able to receive their full school program from The Attic and no longer be required to enroll as homeschool families. Our classes are small, and our teaching is constructivist, often project-based, often collaborative, and always attentive to each child’s developmental needs. Each week, we dive deeply into the core academic subject areas (math, reading, writing, science, and the social sciences). In addition, we believe that social-emotional education is as vital to life as academic education, and so it is a central thread of Attic curriculum.
Attic teens leave their high school years ready to pursue the course of their own choosing: college enrollment, unique gap year opportunities, and/or work experiences. Among our alumni, we count architects, teachers, journalists, entrepreneurs, engineers, computer programmers, public servants, musicians, writers, actors, dancers, artists, and humanitarians. More than that, however, we are proud of the empathy, independence, and self-knowledge Attic graduates universally possess.
